SAO 2008

The Stratford Athletic Organization was founded in 1952, under the name of Stratford Father & Sons. The objectives of this Organization “"shall be to implant firmly in the boys and girls of this community the ideals of good sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty, courage and reverence, so that they may grow up to be finer, stronger and happier citizens of our community".

In 2007, there are approximately 460 boys and girls from Stratford and Laurel Springs that registered to play baseball and softball on 44 teams. From those 42 teams, 11 teams were formed for post-season tournament play.

Basketball is offered in the winter and last season over 250 kids participated. SAO is fully supported by an active general membership representing over 350 families. The spirit of volunteerism continues to make the organization strong and successful.

We also benefit from the generous support of our Sponsors. We ask the general membership to support the businesses and individuals whenever possible.The Organization is run by a dedicated group of 15 volunteers that make up a board of directors.

The board had increased in size in 2002. In 1999, the membership voted to change the name of Stratford Father & Sons to the Stratford Athletic Organization. Over the years, the enrollment has fluctuated, but the commitment to tradition has remained the same.
